Workshop Details

Bring a large towel for your workspace. Plan on a 5 hr window to build your drum & drumstick..The workshop will be indoors. Leave the perfectionist at home, bring the creative artists.

Raw Hide: Horse, Elk, Deer or Bison. Choose the hide of the animal you are most aligned with or have a totem with. In Colorado, I recommend Horse hide, it does well with the seasonal changes. All hides have some fluctuation with hot & cold temps and dry or humid climates. Lacing the drum to suit the climate it will be played in is the key. The horse will provide a deeper tone.

Frames: Willow, Cedar and Maple. Do your own research on deciding which wood type works well for you. This is a personal choice on the type of wood that resonates with you.

Tools and care instructions for your medicine drum are provided.
