HEALTH COACHING

What is Functional Medicine Health Coaching?

Making healthy lifestyle changes can be overwhelming, but no one has to do it alone. A health coach is a guide and champion who uses the latest evidence-based techniques to bridge the gap between what clients know they should to do to be healthy, and the intrinsic motivation they need to actually make those changes (and then stick with them).

Functional Medicine Health Coaches Make Healthy Lifestyle Changes Possible!

Signs clients are ready for health coaching.

  1. Clear Health Goals: Clients who have well-defined and specific health goals are often excellent candidates for health coaching. They should be able to articulate what they want to achieve and why it's important to them. They might not know how to achieve these goals, but this clarity shows they are serious about their health.
  2. Motivation and Commitment: Clients may struggle with motivation, you want to work with someone who is motivated to make some changes. A health coach is more than just an accountability partner and cheerleader. You can work with clients on increasing motivation. Find ways to help them connect more to motivation by creating goals that match abilities and resources. Showing signs of motivation, such as a strong desire to improve, a willingness to invest time and effort, and a readiness to change is vital to a great coach and client relationship.
  3. Openness to Coaching: Clients should be open to exploring new ideas and possibilities and understand that they are going to be active participants in their improvement. If a client is very set in their ways or closed to trying new things, they might not be a great fit for coaching.
  4. Realistic Expectations: Health coaching clients need to have realistic expectations about what health coaching can achieve. They should understand that change takes time, and there may be setbacks along the way. If a client expects quick results and magical changes overnight, they may not be ready for health coaching.

Start with a free 15 minute consulstation to see if the Client and Coach are a good match. A health coach is not a subsitute for a medical doctor, nutritionist or dietician but is on your team to support and hold you accountable to your health & wellness goals that you need help accomplishing. A health coach is more like a guide you build trust with to support you every step of the way.

Areas a Health Coach can have a great impact on with clients.

  • Cardiovascular (number one killer in the world)

  • Cancer
  • Obesity
  • Diabetes and Insulin Resistance
  • Integrative & Functional Nutrition
  • Sleep Quality
  • Men's Health

Health coaching is needed more than ever in 2026 because the biggest threats to health aren't just "one-off" illnesses—they're the everyday conditions and pressures that quietly wear people down over time. Chronic disease and cardiometabolic issues (like high blood pressure, insulin resistance/prediabetes, type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, and weight-related inflammation) continue to affect millions, while stress, burnout, poor sleep, and mental health strain make it harder to follow through on even the best intentions.

Add in ultra-processed convenience eating, sedentary workdays, constant screen time, and information overload, and it's no surprise people feel stuck: they know what they should do, but translating that into a realistic routine is the hard part.

That's where health coaching becomes essential. A coach helps bridge the gap between medical advice and real life by turning goals into step-by-step habits that fit your schedule, preferences, and starting point. Instead of quick fixes or shame-based motivation, coaching provides accountability, structure, and support—helping clients build sustainable routines around nutrition, movement, stress resilience, sleep, and recovery. In a world where health is influenced by so many competing demands, health coaching offers something simple but powerful: a personalized plan, consistent guidance, and a practical path forward that actually lasts.
